The HTC HD2 is a touch-screen Android smart phone. Android is an
open source operating system that permits the HD2 to install third-party
applications. The device has 512 MB of read only memory (ROM) and 448
MB of random access memory (RAM).
It also has capacity for extra storage
via a removable SD card. If you are experiencing problems using your
HTC HD2 smart phone, it pays to troubleshoot it before sending it for
repairs.
Handset Problems
Step 1
Tap “Settings,” “Personal” and then “Phone” on your touch-screen.
Step 2
Tap the “Pin” tab. Clear the check box that says
“Pin Required.” If you have been having difficulty making calls or
executing other commands, it may have been because the phone was in pin
protection mode, but no pin had been set. Rather than prompting you for a
pin, the Android operating system may restrict your permissions. If the
phone requests you to enter a pin to turn off pin protection, there is a
pin set already. If there is a pin set, but you don’t know it, consult
your dealer.
Step 3
Press and hold the power switch on the top of the HD2 to turn off the phone. Leave it off for a minute.
Step 4
Press the power switch briefly to turn the phone
back on. Many small problems such as frozen screens and crashed apps can
be fixed by simply turning the phone on and off. This process rules out
a software problem, such as corruption.
Step 5
Place the phone face-down. Push the SD card in so
that it pops out of the slot. The SD card is located on the side panel
of the phone. Push the SD card back into the slot until you hear a pop.
If the SD card is not properly installed, or has come loose after the
phone has been dropped, some of the functions such as the contacts book
may not operate properly. By removing and replacing the card, you can
check that it is correctly installed.
Sync Problems
Step 1
Connect the HD2 to your PC via a USB cable.
Step 2
Slide the “Settings” tab on your touch screen. The
location of the tab depends on how you have configured your home screen.
If you can’t see the tab, slide the home screen right to move onto the
next screen.
Step 3
Tap “Menu,” “All Settings,” “Connections” and “USB to PC.”
Step 4
Clear the check box next to where it says “Enable
faster data synchronization,” and tap “Done.” This resets the
synchronization connection between your HD2 and the computer. This
process often fixes problematic connections.
